The Week of Champions!

Well This week was an awesome week! Jennifer continues to progress towards baptism! unfortunately We're going to have to wait a while before she can get baptized. we have to get first presidency permission first... so thats not so good but! she wants it so it shouldn't be a hard thing for her to wait for it! I'm quite excited.

So with the changes on missionary work... man It was awesome! the effect won't happen for the next few months but they made it sound like tracting is going out the window! for the most part.... and we're going to be at the church ALOT more. because we're going to be giving tours and other things Its going to be awesome! members are going to have to do alot more for the missionaries. we are not going to be leading the charge on missionary work anymore we are simply going to be assisting the members in it. now this is just What Elder Scott got out of the broadcast so who knows what is actually going to happen but whatever happens members are going to have to step it up.

What up!?!

So this one is going to be short because I have other things I need to do besides be here... sorry but I still love you!

So this Week I got rid of my trainer!... just kidding I loved Elder Kidd but I did get a new companion! His name is Elder Tuttle he is a boss! nuff said. I love him to death. We have had an amazing week! we found 9 new investigators! even though some of them haven't worked out already was are still working hard on it! so my area also got split this transfer and... where it was split was not where we thought it was going to be split.... and ALL of our investigators with a baptism date and are progressing are on the new sister's part of the area... its awesome. I was mad about it for a few days but the more I've been thinking about it I think its better because the sisters have the harder part of the area and they are both newer missionaries, one has been out for one transfer and the other came out with me, so what ever we can do to help them out is ok with me.

we are keeping one of our investigators. Jennifer!!! she was crushed when elder kidd left so we desided it would be better if we kept her, even though she is in the sisters area technically. but with jennifer this week we took her to the temple and had a lesson in the waiting room oh man it was awesome! the spirit was there.... well it was the temple the spirit is always there! but the spirit was so much stronger than usual you could litterally tell how much heavenly Father loved Jennifer and how excited He is for her to get baptized and man that was such an awesome experience so adam, jess if you have a temple close to your area use it!!! if you can. during the lesson one of the temple presidency came out and taught with us and an analogy that he used that was awesome is that out in the waiting room of the temple the pottery is porcelain, so its not that pretty but as you get a further into the temple the potery turns into bronze so its a little better quality, but when you get into the celestial room the pttery is made out of crystal. then I was like hey I'm going to use this and I was like jennifer right now you might be like porcelain not the best but when you get baptized and as you strive to endure to the end you can be refined and become crystal. you have the potentail to become a perfect person and I believe you can and will do it. Oh man I don't know where it came from but man it was good and spiritual I can't wait to see her get baptized she is so ready.

well i need to Email my parents or they might "Get on a plane come to kentucky and hunt me down" so peace!

Well first off Brooklyn wins with the best birthday present. I got a letter from all of the Hill kids and in it there were a bunch of pictures the they had drawn for me, I loved all of them, and there was also 11$ on the one dollar bill there was a sticky note that said, "from Brooklyn for your Birthday. (Her Tooth Fairy Money)" man there was no better birthday present I could've got than that it made my eyes "leak" for a while. Someone better let her know how much that ment to me and how much I love her, cuz that was the best!

 

Second Elder Kidd is getting transfered... My Dad is leaving! I'm so nervous! cuz that means I'm in charge for the next little bit until the new Elder gets used to it here... Scary but its exciting. Good news I'm not loosing my car!!!!! I got a bike though for the best price ever! Free! I got it from a elder who is dying at transfers. My area is getting cut in two though so I won't have the whole county to cover anymore just half of it. So exciting things are happening.

 

Third Jennifer got her answer! SHE WANTS TO BE BAPTIZED!!!!!!! best news all week she got her answer while we were teaching her! we were talking about baptism again and what it means and I kept getting this feeling to talk about confermation and recieving the gift of the holy ghost. and when i finally desided to act on the impression the whole lesson dinamic changed. The spirit level just sky rocketed! IT WAS AWESOME! After we finished explaining the Gift of the Holy ghost she said I need that I want to be baptized!!!!!!!! SO AWESOME!!!!!! it was a great lesson now we just have to help her quit smoking... but I think that will come easier now that this is something she wants to do!

 

I'm not sure what else to write about nothing else amazing happened this week but it still was great!

Sup Ya'll

 

This week was a pretty good week. It was my birthday! so it had to be a good day! on my birthday I got to sit around and write letters for once! that was good because i haven't got to sit down and really write a letter to everyone since I got out to the field because elder Kidd likes to do stuff on p-day... so usually we're playing basket ball or fishing or something. then after p-day was over we went and tried to see some people all of our appointments fell through like pretty much every other day. BUT we did meet this guy who is moving out here from utah and he took us to TACO BELL for dinner!!!!! little did he know he saved me like 5 bucks cuz thats what i was going to do for myself anyway!!!! it made my day.

 

Then we had a great week for finding this week we had 7 new investigators throughout the week!!!! WHATS UP!!!! that usually doesnt happen! we usually have 2 or 3 and then they fall through we've only had 2 of these fall through so there is potential!!! So we had a lesson with a new investigator named michelle she's pretty cool we brought brother Kohli, the guy that took us to taco bell, to the lesson with us because he said if we ever need help give him a text because he's bach-padding it up until his house sells in utah so he came with us and man this guy was a BOSSSSSS he was stinking legit!!!  the lesson went prefectly we set a baptism date and everything man every flowed perfectly, there's not really a way to describe a perfect lesson like that! it was awesome!

 

so this morning we helped set up the new appartment in our area... at transfer so next week if i don't get transfered our area is getting split and i will be on a bike its going to be awesome and hot!!!! I already come in soaked with sweat after a good long days work. I'm excited to see how it is going to be after a good long day sweating on a bike its going to be sweeet!!!! its going to be a good experience so i'm going to have to go buy a bike YAY! i can't wait!

Sup Ya'll

 

This week.... well this week was a pretty good one we had alot of good happen this week... and alot of weird. one thing that happened this week was I survived a real life round of angry birds!!!! so we were driving in our car on thursday and all the sudden you hear a THUD!!!! and then there was a bunch of red feathers on the wind shield! how cool is that we got attacked by and angry bird! not really a cardinal just desided to fly into our car. but still it was pretty funny.

 

so I can't remember If i told you about Andy or not but a little background on him he is supper smart. he knows more about the book of mormon than me and elder kidd combined and man he is just a boss! but anyway he's a former ivestigator we picked up a couple weeks ago. we've taught him twice since we met him and every time its just an awesome experience. he wants to be baptized!!!! and his family does to!!!! what up!!!!! man they are such an exemplary family they are litteraly the Nicest people in the world and well let me go back a little so we had been going through the formers in the area book and there wasn't a drop reason for andy so we thought that was weird and we decided to try and go meet him. but we could never get ahold of him. so we kinda gave up hope for picking him up again but then one very rainy day i didn't have an umbrella and i was just walking around in my rain jacket while elder kidd had an umbrella and a rain jacket so we had stopped to talk to a guy that had just had his car over heat so we were talking to him and andy pulls up gives me an umbrella says it looks like you need one of these and then tell the guy we're talking with that he can help fix the problem with his car and then we got an appointment with him!!!! miracles happen!!!! even when you're being dumb and just not wanting to carry an umbrella!!!

 

then also we had dinner with the Bednars this week... they're an awesome family you but man their kids are so mormon its awesome we were talking about the plan of salvation and their kids knew where the scriptures about the 3 kingdoms were found. which i didn't even know until that morning when i decided to brush up on everything about the Plan of Salvation. but holy cow talk about well learned kids. but i guess thats what happens when your grandpa is an apostle.

This week... this week was a weird week with lots of ups and downs and well frankly, I don't really know what happened with this week. it just flew by like no ones busieness. so monday we played some frisbe with the Elders in the district that was fun. We had a TON of dinners this week we got fed twice in one night twice this week it was pretty awesome! actually no it wasn't if i keep getting fed like this i'm going to get very fat!

 

other things that happened this week... um... we helped break into a safe at member's house that was cool... well to be honest this week wasn't the best on the missionary work side of things. we found about 5 new investigators and 7 of our investigators dropped us including those new 5. but we keep trudging onward and upward we can't let things get to us because thats when the work starts to slow down and doesn't go as well. so this coming week will be awesome we are actually going to be able to meet with our progressing investigators!

 

Last night Elder kidd woke me up at 2 in the morning because he was trying to turn on the lamp that hasn't had a light bulb in it for 3 or 4 weeks now. it was supper funny Because he didn;t know what he was doing after i said something to him. He does stuff in his sleep all the time its spper funny when i'm actually awake for it. sometimes its not though because sometimes he'll think its time to wake up and wake me up last time that happened it was a little after midnight.

 

well theres not a whole lot more to write about... oh we're going fishing today again! hopefully we'll catch a fish worth cathing today!

T'was a good week

hey ya'll

This week was insane first off we met a ton of interesting people this week unfortunately we aren't teaching any of them but it was pretty cool to meet them! we met a legit dumpster diver this week! I was on an exchange with elder Potter and we were contacting a gas station, he was over by the dumpster so we went and talked to him. we started talking to him and he asked do you guys love jesus? and i was kinda confused with why he was asking i thought he was going to turn around and bash with us but anyway i answered him yeah i love jesus. and he yells YEAH? ME TO! I LOVE JESUS AND I PRAY TO HIM EVERYDAY! and then he asked us to come talk to him while he works. so he went to the dumpster and started looking through it and we talked about god and our message and as we were trying to leave he's said now keep doing what you're doing its great! but whenever someone says the big guy or the guy up stairs make sure to tell them its god almighty not the big guy. then he started yelling again " and don't be afraid to yell and proclain to the world, I LOVE JESUS and I LOVE GOD!! haha it was awesome we couldnt get a return appointment but he was deffinately a cool dude.

Then there was a baptism that the zone leaders had last weekend so we were trying to find a person to come to it on thrusday after we found out about it at district meeting. we couldn't find nobody but then we desided to text one of our eternigators jake, he's basically a dry mormon he believes everything just doesn't come to church all that often and hasn't been baptized. and he's really hard to get in with so we just desided to text him and see if he wanted to come. and surprisingly enough he said he would come. then later that night at like 11 i think i was laying there awake for some reason when the phone goes off... i role over and see what it says and its jake and he says "can i get baptized on saturday?" and i was half asleep but it was still really cool unfortunately we had to say no but you can in a few weeks. so we're setting a bap calendar up with him this week so thats way sweet!

all in all it was a great normal week in the mission can't wait for more this week! I love it!

Oh i forgot to tell you about something else! so on friday it was pouring all day!!!! Like there was so much rain some of the highways out here were closed down because of flooding!!!! it was crazy!!! luckly that was the day we did weekly planning so we didn't have to be outside all day in the rain. but after weekly planning we did end up going contacting in the rain! it was awesome! I'm glad i have a rain jacket! but i didn't have an umbrella so my hair was drenched within like 30 seconds of being outside. when we were close to being done a random guy pulled up and gave me a umbrella! and then it turned out that he was a former we had been trying to see for many weeks and couldn't ever get a hold of so supper cool blessing right there and we actually saw him this morning before emails and he is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO smaart literaly he was teaching us it was a sweet lesson! but he understands and believes everything of our church I can't wait to teach him again.

Derby Week

Hey ya'll

So this week was derby and literally it was like a week long holiday for something thats not really even a holiday... how? well the schools were shut down on friday for Oaks which was a horse race for the female horses. From what I could gather this race was all for helping the breast cancer cause. Saturday was the Kentucky derby and all of louisville shut down and I guess crestwood, The city i'm serving in, is close enough to lousiville that it shut down too... it turned our little town into a ghost town! there was literally no one arround they were all watching the derby or at a "derby party" so it was a pretty slow day. but that was okay so we got into a lesson on saturday around 6 and we thought the derby was done by then but we were wrong... the person we were teaching literally stopped us mid lesson and said we have to pause for 2 minutes now that was weird I thought then he turned arround flipped on the TV and turned it to the derby. so I got to watch the derby... after the derby we resumed teaching and it turned out to be a great lesson except for the fact that we watched the derby when we tried not to...

hmm what else happened this week.... oh yeah we were at our stake presidents house this week for dinner. We were talking then he brought up hoow he just had a meeting with president Woodburry and he was talking about elder kidd and I and how we had acctually turned this area around. then he said, "I knew that Elder Kidd would be a good trainer, and Elder Scott don't be too surprised if you train next transfer".......... Training after 2 transfers? it takes 2 transfers to train someone!?! I don't know if i could train.... but I guess if it happens its for a reason and I'll be able to handle it. It will just be supper stressful.

so we were tracting yesterday and nothing really good was happening, it was raining and people were being unusually rude. so it was a good day tracting. I'm not complaining I promise because something good hppened and made it all worth it! so we were about to head in for the night but we decided to finish the street before doing so. the second to last house that we were going to knock on we knocked and did our spill and he actually said we could come back and actually seamed like he wanted it istead of the usual oh i guess you can come back... anyway it was supper funny when he said we could come back Elder Kidd Was supper surprised and was like "really!?!" It was supper funny so 2 good things came from that house. The more important one we got a new gator! the second we got a good laugh out of it and now i can make fun of elder kidd for it hahaha I love it!

hey guys!

This week was pretty cool I guess. We went Fishing AGAIN!!!!!! Man i wish we could do that every P-day but unfortunately we can't because Elder Kidd likes his b-ball. but anyways this week we were teaching Jennifer and she had been told that Mormons have more than one wife, and if she was to join our church she would have to join that too. Well she didn't care! she said that she was ready to do whatever the mormons do! Well we after she said that and before I could even think of what to say Elder Kidd explained that we don't have more than one wife and we set a dunk date (Baptism)! She is pretty awesome because she was ready to do anything to be with the LDS church so basically she is a pretty solid investgator.

Another thing that happened this week we saw a Former that Elder Kidd has seen once before so we were kind of going in blind. He was just a back up plan and our dinner that night fell through so we ended up going and seeing him. well him and he let us right in, Him and his family had just finished eating and there was 2 pieces of pizza left so they gave them to us and we started talking about the gosple and what missionaries had taught him before. So we weren't really getting anywhere with what we were talking about until we started to talk about what it would mean if the BoM was true. So we Asked him what it would mean to him if it was true and if was truely the word of god. and he just gave one of those half answers, something like well it would be more scriptures then we explained that if the BoM is true then Our church is true and the priesthood has been restored through Joseph Smith and he was truely a prophet. This caught his Attention then he's said well if what you're saying is true then I need a new BoM and I need to read And Ask God if it is true!!!!!! then his wife got home with and had a Pizza for us and said that she felt bad for not having more for us so she bought us a pizza!!! after that we had a prayer with himn and set up a return appointmentand left with our dinner for the night! It was an awesome lesson.

Mom you must be feeding the Missionary's or doing something right because There was 3 nights in a row this week that we either didn't have dinner or it fell through but then someone ended up feeding us so thanks mom! and dad i guess!!

well we taught other lessons that were awesome and set up a few more Dunk Dates So This week was Kinda AWESOME! this week there was so much opposition. this old guy let us in just to bash and then wouldn't really let us leave until I desided I was done and got up said have a nice day and walked out. so i got into my first bash. but i'm just taking it as we're doing something right because the work is speeding up and the opposition is increasing so I'm Excited for this next week.

Here Comes The Thunder!

Hey guys!

Well this week was great. There were so many great things that happened, Both spiritual and non-spiritual! so on the spiritual missionary work side of everything we showed our investigator rebecca the restoration video (the hour long one) and she loved every bit of it. She soaked everything up and just loved it! After she had some questions about it and some stuff she had heard about the church, We answered them and she has been reading the BoM! She's progressing so much and I love seeing the change in her, and the joy that the Gospel that has brought into her life already!

So I talked about Jen last week right? well saturday we had a lesson with her and a Sister from the ward came and helped us teach. Man the spirit was so strong! I love it! we ended up not teaching what we thought we were going to teach but since the spirit was there the lesson just flowed. We taught by the spirit and it was SOOOOOO COOLLLLL!!! to be completely honest I don't remember most of what I said but after Sister A told me that she thought that what I had said was exactly what jen needed to hear... Now if only I could remember what I had said. Oh well

so kinda spiritual not really story we were out just IQing this past week and we got called to repentance twice it was.... interesting to say the least. the first one was by a JW, Jehovah's Witness, He called us to repentance because we celebrated Christmas and Easter then the second was from a South East Christan He was trying to explain to us how we worship a differtent Jesus than him I didn't understand half the things he was trying to explain, but thats how it is whenever we talk to south east people down here. South East Anti's so many people its awesome.

Now time for just the fun/funny things that heppened this week. well we went fishing last monday and it didn't go as well as we had hoped it would but we did catch stuff... once we started hobo style fishing, fishing with just some line, a hook, and a little bait, but anyway so Elder Kidd couldnt catch anything and Elder Potter was Catching stuff left and right because he was hobo fishing he was only catching blue gill but he was still catching stuff. but Elder Kidd was mad so he decided to slap the fish Elder Potter had just caught. well the fish ended up doing more damge to Elder Kidd then him to it. blue gill have really sharp fins and well it cut elder kid's hand pretty good It was supper funny.

Another awesome thing that we were able to do this week was go to Thunder Over Louisville which is during the day an airshow then at night it is the biggest firework show in the nNation. man it was awesome! Imagine the end of the WJ 4th of july Fire work show times 10 over a river, with music in the background, going for 45 mins the pictures i took of it don't do it justice I say go to youtube search Thunder over louisville and watch it because it was awesome!

I thought I was just in here.....

Hey guys!

Man this week went by so fast and I've loved every second of it. There is no where i would rather be than right here right now. Elder Kidd and I are finnaly having more than one or two things schedueled for the week. We have been finding people to teach and we are getting so much help from the ward! Things are going to turn around in this area I'm so excited.

Well this week was interviews with president and man President and Sister Woodbury are such awesome people there is nothing better than getting to talk to them! Interviews went great and we got some good Ideas of how to start moving the area along better and faster. Guess what!! they're already working!!!! In the last week we surpassed anything we have been doing and are getting things roling along. We still didn't have anyone at church though which was dissapointing BUT!!!! This week already looks like we will be able to have several people there!!! I'm quite excited and so pleased with how many people we have been able to find this week!!! Its so exciting!!!!

this week we started teaching 2 women in that have had a hard life to say the least and are looking to change and they are looking to god for that change man its just amazing how god has prepared some people. Listening to the stories of these two women is just incredible I dn't think I could look for god if I went through what they went through. I think i would be angry with him. It is just amzing how prepared they are to hear the gosple. as we were teaching them they just suck EVERYTHING up I mean they still have questions and concerns about things but they are willing and ready to learn I can't wait till the next time we get to teach them.

Guess what I'm doing today!!! I'm going fishing!!!!!!! I'm so excited for it one of the members has a pond in their yard and told us to come and go fishing on P-day so thats what we're doing!!! It will be a good change from basket ball. you know i love basket ball as much as the next guy that isn't very good at it but fishing just sounds like alot more fun.

The Week of Everything

Hey guys so guess what!

conference was awesome!! I loved it! we watched most of it at the church and it was basically just missionaries there but one session yesterday we were supposed to go over to a member's house and have an investigator there to watch it too but low and behold our investigator got sick so she wasnt able to make it BUT we still went and watched it with the members and it was a good change. and we are hopefully teaching the investigator today so we can show her one conference talk that applied perfectly to her. but that should work out great. so going along with conference JASON, JOSH, SARAH in the Priesthood session David L. Beck said "next time your mom asks you to do something respond 'thank you for asking mom, I'll do that right away' and then drop what you are doing and do it" I think you guys should try it and let me know what mom does OK????? Deal I'll be asking mom what she thought of the great things you guys did so you better do it!

so something that Elder Kidd thought was hilarious and i didn't because it was a mind fart on me but you guys might get a laugh out of it. so after a long day we were tracting and I was pretty tired, so one of the approaches we do for tracting is called the pray approach where we state we are repetitiveness of Christ and we would like to leave the savior peace and blessing on the family and their home through a prayer and then you pray with them then explain a little about the restoration of the gospel or something and try to set up a return appointment so anyway i go up to the house knock on the door and try this approach but as i am saying we would like to leave the saviors peace and blessing on their family and home they morph and i say we would like to leave the savior's peace and blessing on your phone..... and she just looked at me funny because i didn't realize what i had said so i kinda felt retarded it was great.

So out here it is pretty hard not to follow march madness definitely when Louisville is in the final and one of their players breaks their leg yup i saw that video it was really bad. whenever we are tracting and Louisville is playing you can almost garenty that you will have at least half the people say they don't have time for you because the game is on and you can't schedule appointments with people because the game is on its pretty great. but i'm not complaining because it also gives you something to talk to people about to help them realize you're not a complete wierdo haha oh well

The work is coming along!

Hey guys,
So this week I had my first baptism.
It was pretty awesome, sorry i forgot my usb cable or i would upload a picture.
Also this week we did exchanges with the ZL's (Zone Leaders) so i went with elder thomas and elder kidd went with elder Rigbee.
It was a neat experience, it was nice to see A different missionary at work than my trainer.
We went to his area and just had a regular day for him.
We went to see some people had appointments fall through ended up just going contacting in apartments.
IT was AWESOME black people are my favorite.
So after that we went to some more appointments and taught a few people, went and gave a blessing, and then went and taught some more lessons.
It was a very full day.
One of the guys we were teaching was just into it and soaking everything up and i just wanted to keep teaching but...
time was up and we had to switch back.
I was very happy with that day and it was very exciting.
Another cool story this week was we started to teach Rebecca on Monday, well she is what you would call a "Golden Investigator" she asks all the right questions and she is just ready for the Gospel.
We taught her the restoration and MAN was the spirit strong!
It was there and you could tell, and you could tell she could tell, AND wabam Baptism date for may 24th!
I Know that its not set in stone but i believe with all my heart that if she puts forth the effort she will be baptized on that date!
Well she is already on the way there she came to church yesterday, and all the talks applied right for her!!
The lord works miracles!!!!
It was pretty awesome!
So Little more on Elder Kidd, I've decided we are exactly opposite.
He's a byu fan, compair to lance jewkes, and then you have him.
He's balding, he's an orchestra kid
I had more but I need to hurry up, but there is one thing we agree on.
Batman is the best!!!
Haha its pretty fun.
We get everything done that needs to be accomplished.
